Its main advantage over the original VMATE MAX is roughly double the battery capacity in a slightly taller body.

The VMATE MAX2 should already be on store shelves, packaged in an updated yellow box with a picture of the device in its current color on the front. The sides list its main features, while the back carries technical and legal details — the most relevant part for buyers being the package contents. The SAMPLE sticker is only on pre-release review units and will not appear on retail versions.

The package contents include: the pod itself with a pre-installed 0.7 Ω cartridge, a spare 0.4 Ω cartridge, a short charging cable, a user manual, a cartridge compatibility guide, and a leaflet with e-liquid selection and usage recommendations.

The VMATE MAX2 looks exactly like a classic pod system, though it is slightly chunkier than most — which is easy to accept, since the word MAX in the name is there for a reason. The cartridge installs from the top as usual, with a mechanical airflow adjustment underneath, a small button on one side, and a charging port on the opposite side. Inside are the battery and charging controller, the draw-activation sensor, and a large color screen. Naturally, the device can be vaped in two ways — either by pressing the button or simply taking a draw.

There are exactly eight color options. They differ not only in panel color but also in the color of the pod's frame (except for the blue version, whose frame looks more like gunmetal). This review covers the neutral silver variant, though personally I prefer the orange or green options.


The first and most important difference is battery capacity — 2100 mAh versus 1200 mAh. The second is the color screen. The third is slightly larger dimensions: the new model is about 1 cm taller. The firmware has changed significantly as well; the second version allows manual power adjustment and lets you choose flavor profiles.

Starting with the bottom edge: there is not much to see here, but you can find the device name, battery capacity, and markings confirming EU sale compliance and prohibiting disposal with household waste.

On the upper part of the body, the engineers placed the single button and a USB Type-C charging port rated at 2 A. Near these elements you can see two small air intake holes, which will keep working even if the main airflow mechanism is fully closed.

The airflow mechanism itself is located on the back side of the body, under the cartridge. By moving the mechanical slider, you can adjust the draw from loose to relatively tight — though the design is not intended for a true MTL experience.

And finally, the cartridge. It installs from the top and is held by a pair of magnets that attach to the large contacts that have already become a signature feature of the VMATE system. Compatibility is complete, by the way — you can install a cartridge from any VMATE device and it will work.

The included cartridge is now in its fourth version. It looks identical to the third version on the outside, but the engineers at VOOPOO refined the internals: the 3 mL capacity is retained, while airflow and cotton wicking around the coil have been improved, which should positively affect both flavor and coil longevity.


Two quick clicks of the button switch the pod's operating mode — but this is not a simple "eco-standard-power" setup. Instead, you select a profile for the e-liquid you filled: fruits, drinks, desserts, or herbs. Personally, I still haven't fully figured out how it works — something does change, but I can't say exactly what without more experiments with different e-liquids.

Asking whether the VMATE MAX2 is worth buying is almost the wrong question — the built-in battery capacity simply settles it and leaves competitors standing off to the side. No one else currently offers 2100 mAh. For the same reason, comparing the MAX2 to the first version is pointless: it is nearly twice as weak at the same dimensions.
A second undeniable advantage is the standard VMATE coil, which is easy to buy and proven over time, whether in the third or the new fourth version. The large color screen and precise power adjustment are also welcome additions. As for the flavor profiles, I still need to spend more time with them to decide whether they are genuinely useful or just another gimmick like temperature control.
